Seed Bride couple, Samuel and Dorcas, held on to love through life’s toughest storm, as over 50 vendors came together to make their wedding dream a reality.

Some couples begin planning their wedding with excitement, only to find life taking an unexpected turn. For Samuel and Dorcas, what should have been a season of preparing for marriage became a difficult journey after an accident changed Samuel’s life and left them facing challenges they had never anticipated.

Despite the uncertainty, Dorcas stood by Samuel, and the two held on to their love and faith. When their wedding plans were interrupted by the cost of his treatment, an unexpected discovery during the Hallelujah Challenge led Dorcas to the Seed Bride Initiative.

Their story became part of a special milestone in 2025, when Seed Bride celebrated its fifth anniversary by bringing together two couples from Accra and Kumasi. More than 50 wedding vendors joined forces to give Samuel and Dorcas a two-day wedding celebration valued at approximately GH₵650,000, turning a difficult season into a new beginning.

Samuel and Dorcas’s Story

Samuel and Dorcas’s relationship began through their mothers, who introduced them to each other. Dorcas was outside Ghana when they first connected, so their relationship grew through communication. They began seeing each other in 2020, building a bond that continued through the years. For Dorcas, Samuel was her only relationship, something she has always been proud of.

By 2024, Dorcas was ready to settle down, and the couple had begun making arrangements for their wedding. But around November that year, their plans took an unexpected turn. Samuel, who works as a gas station attendant and enjoys playing football, was playing with a friend when a tackle resulted in a serious injury. The injury eventually led to the amputation of his leg.

The experience was difficult for both of them. Samuel worried about whether he would walk again or be able to provide for Dorcas. He feared that she might leave him, especially because he knew how loving, caring, and supportive she had been. Dorcas, too, had to process the pain of seeing someone she loved go through such a life-changing experience.

She worried about the challenges ahead and what people might think of her decision to stay. Still, she chose to stand by Samuel as they faced the uncertainty together.

The cost of Samuel’s treatment also meant that the money they had saved for their wedding had to go towards his recovery. Their plans were put on hold, and the future they had been preparing for suddenly looked different.

During the Hallelujah Challenge, Dorcas was praying and later came across the Seed Bride Initiative’s open application announcement on Instagram. She took it as a sign and decided to submit their story. It was an unexpected opportunity at a time when they needed help most.

In 2025, Samuel and Dorcas became the Accra couple selected for the fifth anniversary edition of Seed Bride. More than 50 wedding vendors came together to provide a two-day celebration at no cost to the couple, with the wedding valued at approximately GH₵650,000. The décor alone was valued at around GH₵170,000, while the lowest individual vendor contribution was worth approximately GH₵4,000 at normal client rates.

For JanaTribe, participating in the 2025 edition was also an opportunity to recognise the professionals behind the celebration. Their time, expertise, and generosity helped turn a difficult chapter in Samuel and Dorcas’s lives into a moment of renewed hope.

The couple expressed gratitude to the Seed Bride team and all the vendors who invested in their wedding. Their message was a reminder that the future can hold unexpected possibilities, even after life takes a painful turn. For Samuel and Dorcas, the experience was not simply about receiving a wedding; it was about the kindness of people who helped them begin their next chapter together.
